The Old Gods
The Old Gods, as they are now called, were worshipped from the beginning across Aika. However, roughly three hundred years ago, their Avatars started dying out. This destroyed people’s faith in them, as it proved that the gods had either died or abandoned their people. Now, only the Avatar of Ascliatus, Malaghrys the Horror, still walks the earth as a testament to his continued presence in his prison. One hundred years ago, Ascliatus nearly broke from his earthly jail, but was foiled by a Reyr Runepriest named Brúra Godrak, who then Ascended into godhood. This restored the faith in the old gods somewhat, and now it is not uncommon for people to honour these gods, though they remain a minority to the worshippers of the new pantheon.
